The hunt is on
100% fossil fuel free Nations
The Science of a healthy life
Let me just say that it does not matter at all who, in the end, actually becomes the world's first 100% fossil fuel free nation. What matters is that it is now an actual and practical reality that our planets leading nations are pursuing. Swiftly and engaged the beautiful goal of becoming the first 100% fossil fuel free nation is now an actual thing here on our blue marble. And that matters because it improves life on Earth for every human being. Poor, rich, middle class, Europeans, Asians, Americans, tribal Indians, polar bears and even Tony Abbot himself. And that makes it a thing of wonderful global beauty.

The Prime Minister of Sweden announced to the UN General Assembly that his country is not feeling complacent at all with already being one of the world's leading green nations, and so, Sweden will now work towards becoming "one of the first fossil fuel-free welfare states in the world,"

An ambitious goal for any nation. But also such a beautiful contrast to more nefarious politicians that in other nations such as Australia and UK are cutting back on green goals and public health in general as well as sustainable energy projects. Part of making it an aggressive and public goal is to spur other nations to follow suit in the pursuit of making all of Earth a healthier and happier, more equal place for us all. After all, any nation polluting its own cities also pollutes and harm other nations air, water, soil and people, a basic reality that is impossible to escape or overlook.
[Already leads the world
in renewable energy]
A decades-long tradition of developing clean and sustainable energy from hydropower and geothermal energy production, air and most recently sun made most of the Nordic Nations world leaders in green, clean and sustainable energy, long before other nations even started contemplating moving away from destructive and unhealthy energy production. But to make any nation, developed or developing a 100% fossil fuel free nation. That is going to take a serious effort and investment and change to society and it´s infrastructure and politics.
It is, however, a goal that Swedens prime minister is correct in stating as "important" right in the now and not something for future generations to do or benefit from, it is important today and it is beneficial today. Not only for the Swedish citizens and it´s closest neighbors (one of whom happens to be one of the worlds biggest oil-producing nations) but for all other people too in every single nation.
It is very much about our own health and wellbeing right now, and it is equally much about sending an important signal to the entire world that not even one of the leading nations in the world is content and happy with the state of the world at all, and that we all need to improve a lot. And in a time when certain nations are going backward, it is a powerful and much-needed signal to see an actual world leader work hard to improve even more.
Ready, Set go!.
Best of all, even short term speaking, the renewed focus on making one of the worlds top 5 green nations the worlds first 100% fossil fuel free nation is not just beneficial for the Swedish people and industry. Sweden, in a surprisingly sane move recognizes how global everything is today, and certainly so our planetary and individual health. Air, water and environment simply does not know borders and maps, and as such as a part of becoming 100% fossil fuel free, Sweden is also going to invest a substantial amount of money, 500 million kronor annually, in other nations becoming greener and healthier.

And if you think about it for a second, making another nation more sustainable and healthier improves health and life for the Swedish people as well. Just ask Singapore how it feels about the huge amount of air pollution Indonesia "exports" every single year not just to Singapore but too all other Asian neighbors as well. And the situation in Europe and the rest of the world is, of course, the same. In Europe, all other nation has to deal with pollution from German coal mines, and in a bigger perspective, what one nation spews out slowly spreads around the entire globe, no matter if it starts out as Chinese or American, or European air and water pollution. In the end, every gram of pollution is both local and global pollution, and as one of the most developed and greenest nations of Earth, Sweden understands that reality far too well.
Löfven said: "Children should grow up in a toxin-free environment - the precautionary principle, the removal of dangerous substances and the idea that the polluter should pay are the basis of our politics."
