Red Meat is making you age prematurely

I could have added a ? to that headline since it is not yet 100% verified that eating all forms of red meat on top of other negative health effects also speeds up our biological aging process. Then again, I am choosing not to do that since I am of the opinion that there is so much ample scientific evidence by now that people that care about their own and others health do need to cut back on the amount of red meat they eat. Be it cancer, obesity, vascular aging, mortality chance in general, diabetes or a destructively rapid aging process, red meat just isnt a great day to day food choice if health is a concern/interest.

Biological age versus chronological age.
Yeah I know, plenty of people would swear until their dying day that age is not at all just a number, but that it is, in fact, a gigantic horror movie ticking by birthday after birthday.
But you see factually speaking, age really is nothing but a number.
An arbitrary number that does not say much at all about your age or capacity and health.
We all have that chronological number that displays how many years, chronologically it´s been since we once upon a time crawled out of our momma's tummy ( or perhaps you had to be pulled and plucked into daylight ).
That is chronological age.

And while it correctly tells you how many years you and I have been kicking it, it actually has nothing to do with how old your body truly is.
Biological age is separated from how many years you have lived and biological age is thus, the by far more interesting aspect of aging because your body age according to your chosen way of life.
A healthy person that invests the time and energy needed to eat clean and keep fit and active on a daily basis will age decades slower than their chronological age, not to mention that a person that do life the opposite way ( as in eating shit and sitting still ) will age quicker. As such, a healthy lifestyle really does turn back the clock.
Red meat does have some positive aspects.
The biggest being it´s high-grade protein amount and quality, even tho the importance of the actual protein source and quality have in recent years been put in question due to several science articles showing us that the amount of protein is much more important than the biological protein quality.
Meat is also a good source of zinc and Creatine.
But other than that, it is a poor choice for anyone aspiring to improve their fitness ( and health in body and planet ). As far as aging go scientists have now discovered that a diet rich in red meat increases the levels of serum phosphate in the body to such a level that which, when combined with a poor overall diet, it will actually speed up a person's biological age by a noticeable factor.
The negative effects are further enhanced amongst sedentary people and people that in general eat less clean.
A fit and active lifestyle and diet rich in veggies and fruit help in part to hold off some of the negative effects of red meat consumption, including premature aging. But no matter how fit you are, it is simply put better for you and the planet the less red meat you include in your daily life.
Professor Paul Shiels, Institute of Cancer Sciences "Our observations indicate that elevated red meat consumption has adverse effects amongst deprived males, who already have a poor diet and eat less fruit and vegetables than recommended. We think in this group the effects of high serum phosphate intake may be exacerbated.".
The study was carried out by scientists from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden and the University of Glasgow.
