1.
Yes, we have a clear scientific connection between obesity and all these health issues. And the more visceral body fat we have around our organs the higher the risk.
Recent studies have also made it clear that internal gut fat is just as bad for women as it is for men, with a clear increase in diabetes risk for internally obese women.
2.
No, there is nothing that correlates between a large amount of internal fat and any of these health issues. Not in men, and even lesser so with women.
We now know that there is a very clear correlation between large amounts of internal tummy fat and all of these health issues. And as far as women go, recent 2019 studies have highlighted how bigger quantities of excess visceral gut fat, the higher the risk for diabetes and heart health issues amongst women too. And if anything, the bad health issues are actually exponentially worse for women than men when it comes to the dangerous visceral gut fat.
Visceral adipose mass has been linked with an increased risk of not just diabetes. But also hypertension, heart attack/angina, type 2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia.
And what exactly is visceral adipose fat?
Visceral adipose fat is body fat that´s been stored internally around your organs.
And to highlight just how dangerous internal gut fat is, we do not need to look further than to a Swedish study which included more than 300 000 participants. This study revealed that as little as 1 kilo of additional internal tummy fat increases the risk for diabetes around 7 times for women while doubling the same health risk for men.
