Fitness School, Do you know the right answer?. Question 8, Let us talk about the gift and curse of your own genetics and how much impact that will have on your fitness levels.

Fitness School
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 8 in our School of Fitness.
Making daily progressive lifestyle choices matters incredibly much for maintaining and improving our health and fitness. But genetics also play a role in our fitness capacity.
The question is this, just how much impact do those genetics play vs our own daily fitness choices?. Will the girl next to you at the gym always crush you in every exercise there is. And if so, is that all down to her being lucky in the genetics department?.

Make up your mind, and once you have made your pick click the "And the Correct Answer is" label down below to reveal the right one.

1.
Sorry to give it to you, but its all about them hereditary genetics. Her parents where just plain amazing in that genetic soup cooking they handed down and you will never catch up with anyone with better genetics than you.
2.
While the above might at times feel like the simple truth. Reality is rarely that dead set in stone and gladly, when it comes to your own fitness and fitness related health it is virtually all about your own daily choices.
So much so, that you have to take fitness competitions to its very extreme, such as an Olympic final to find a general, but still minimal advantage from superior fitness genetics.
Normal people with genetics in the normal range of variances can always improve their health and fitness by the daily choices they make. So never limit yourself or others by implying that you are doomed to always be out of shape or forever behind.
In raw numbers, an olympic finalist with superior genetic advantages only end up with a minimal 1.5 to 4.5% advantage over other athletic competitors with perfectly normal fitness genetics. And that is such a tiny difference that a stubborn, hard working and smart fitness oriented mind can 100% make up for that tiny difference with the way they do their daily fit and active and healthy life.

Option nr 2 is the correct one.
According to the very latest science, the actual fitness difference in real life competition turns out to be as little as 1.5 to 4.5%.
Which might keep you away from that olympic gold but it will certainly never ever keep you from becoming super fit, and perhaps even becoming a world class athlete at the top of the heap if you so desire.
Fitness and health wise, the takeaway is this.
Forget about that old wifes tale about being born in the wrong month or not being genetically gifted enough. Anyone can get fit and toned. Anyone can get in better shape and health, and you create that by the daily choices you make. And unless you have the desire to win an olympic gold, forget all about the burden or gift of fitness genetics and just focus on your own daily choices in physical activity and food, sleep and recovery. Science is your friend, and daily fit and active choices is the way forward to your own goals no matter how gifted or not you are genetically speaking.

Study up and keep on grinding.
