Never buy Caged hen eggs
a simple and healthy choice that also happens to be the humane choice
Nothing much needed for this one. Eggs is a superb and healthy food choice, and you should absolutely continue enjoying that. But never, ever dumb yourself down to neglect how filthy and inhumane the industry behind caged hens are. So the way forward is as simple as it gets. Buy eggs from modern day farmers that caters to sustainable and healthy and organic, free walking farming. Your health deserves that, the hens providing you with that superb nutrition deserves it, and our planet deserves healthy and sustainable modern farmers.
That applies not just to hens of course. Cows providing us with milk and other healthy sugar-free dairy products deserve the same educated and humane consideration from consumers and producers alike. But for today we are taking a brief look at the so-called "enhanced cage" egg production that was introduced in UK just a couple of years ago. And beyond providing the caged hen with a slightly bigger cage it simply is not enough. And it is not a food production worthy of healthy, educated modern day humans. The fact that food and farm producers which are still producing eggs like this can point to the laws and regulations of UK and show how their inhumane food production is within the framework of the legislature is not a viable excuse to continue supporting caged hen farmers.
Food Production can and need to do much better.
Excuses such as this
“Our farms are fully compliant with UK Government and European regulations on the welfare of birds and we are closely audited in everything we do. In addition, no issues were found following a recent routine visit from a Government agency,”
Is not good enough at all. That is the equivalent of claiming that climate change is a hoax and that the world should continue burning fossil fuel until the end of times.
The simple fact that it is legal to produce dairy and milk products without allowing animals a proper free walking life, while catering to a sustainable and healthy production from start to finish is simply put a disgrace and a clear showcase as to why the legislature that guide and control how our food is produced needs to be tightened up all across EU and UK. It needs to do much more, and it needs to do much better. For all our health, the health of our planet and for the well-being of the animals.
The background to this short article is a recent article from The Independent regarding eggs from Noble Foods, which amongst other things can be bought as 'Big & Fresh' from Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and One Stop stores. But it applies not just to "Big & Fresh" products, but to all caged hen eggs and dairy products across the entire world.
If you care about what you put in your own tummy the recipe is simple.
From now on, buy food from educated, modern high tech food producers and farmers that care about the animals as much as they care about the health and well-being of you and me and our planet. Making sure that you do not damage my health and the health of planet Earth really is the only way to properly maintain your own health today and tomorrow. And when it comes down to the food you buy, buying eggs from ecological farmers with a sustainable and healthy food production and product, from free walking, organic hens is a simple way towards a better world for homo sapiens and hens alike.
Simple as that.

The Mouse In our Wall
We play in the snow, under the shooting star
Told to you, as I once told, a mind and girly soul, so beautiful.
Inside the walls of our homes, and lives. There are Undraped windows through which we see both in and out, and at night I look out and up with you.
A shooting star stirs and moves the northern lights. Like a spoon through water, it moves before our eyes. Clear as day yet slightly obfuscated through the sheets of glass, the world is silent and it could be a dream as I witness the star cut through the puffy clouds.
And at night.
Some other times, there we are, walking through life's small moments and we are holding hands.
Together, we stand outside having walked amongst the falling leafs and the subtle snow.
Rain or sunshine matters not.
Looking in, through the of night, all chilly frosty glass, the burning lamps the pleasant light and warmth that moves and lives inside.
Is it empty we ask out loud, or is there someone looking out? Back at us. Do they hear our silent minds, can they feel our burning soul and warming hands.
In between these two sides. Neither looking in or out. Or perhaps, they do them both all the time.
There live a gnarly little furry mouse that moves about with his love and all their friends.
At night, you can hear them talk and hug it out. They move, play and dart around, inside and outside the walls that people build. Sometimes they walk our floors, sitting near, our sleeping faces.
We kiss and make a cute little snowy angel. Your arms wisp around and I kiss your pretty lips, yet again.
And right there. In the corner of my eye. I swear the little mice sits right nearby. Looking out at us as we hug it out.
And perhaps he too thinks the very same. Looking out and about, at us and all the shooting stars.
