Planet Earth - studies & life in the Anthropocene.
A new way of life is needed.
But what is it exactly? And why is something that sounds so cute something truly terrible that we need to take seriously as a global whole.
To most people, it is more than likely just another ridiculous phrase keyboard warriors throw around once a year while they too waste this world to the point of no return.
But this ever-moving yearly event day is anything but deadly essential.
Every year this day signals the point in that year where we have used up all the naturally replenishing resources of this planet.
And beyond this point, the planet is losing its inventory for the next year(s) ahead and it's capacity to restock.
Which if we are talking about corporations and business leaders is something that would cause pretty much every corporate leader out there to die from a heart attack if it persistently happened to their business. But when its Earth, people just shrug their mindless shoulders and look the other way as if the greenhouse we are subsisting in isn't the singular thing that feeds and house us all.
Worse.
Every year this day happens earlier and earlier in the year.
Ergo.
For every year that goes by humanity as a whole is fucking up the planet even more at an accelerating pace nonetheless.
Moving us all ever closer to the point of no return.
2050AD, the ugliness of humanity.
[ Oceans run the risk of having more total weight of plastic than fish.]

Beyond that point, well, you ( read, we ) will all feel as poor old sods of far gone days when the Vikings showed up at the monastery to impose their will upon the weak-willed people that worshipped fictional people.
Except that this time, it will be on a global scale of permanent fubar far beyond the issues and horrors of what any good old Norse raid could cause.
And this is why sustainable actions matter and why sustainable farmers can be the only way forward. Vegetarian food, clean energy. Proper waste management and crops and food that does not gulp down endless supply of water.
Add to that individual people will have to start taking responsibility for the first time in history for their worthless and mindless behavior. The endless amounts of food people use and throw away will have to end, and the same thing has to happen with the endlessly perpetuated rush to buy new gadgets that provide nothing useful over what people already have.
Politicians and corporations that endorse unsustainable behavior are other things that can not go on because humanity as a whole need to change and that is the inevitable truth of Earth overshoot day. In short, a world of meat eaters is an impossibility going forward. And with forward I do talk about tomorrow morning, as in the day after today, and that makes it pretty much an instant need for change because this is something that the worthless generations that came before us should already have done instead of fucking up the planet even more.
Another crucial aspect which the previous paragraph should make you take note of in our instant world of reshares and trigger-happy minds and fingers.
Earth over shoot day and the reality it so clearly lay out for us all to see is not at all about borrowing from unknown faraway future generations. It's about life right here and today and the fact that we are all borrowing from the day that comes tomorrow, next week, next month and next year and with each exhausted resource the burden multiplies and grows even more as time goes by.
So yes those future generations will get it even worse, but so will we with each passing day. And the scientific truth of this? It can be seen around the world, people are just afraid to dress that reality in strong enough words and actions, but everyone that isnt putting their blindfolders on can see it every day and week, all around the world.
There are studies, such as "hothouse Earth" and NY mag´s excellent 2017 piece "the uninhabitable Earth" which lay it all out. And yet people such as D Trump just refuse to acknowledge the reality we are all living with and creating.
Quote.
"However, these transformations are still in initial stages, and the social/political tipping points that definitively move the current trajectory away from Hothouse Earth have not yet been crossed, while the door to the Stabilised Earth pathway may be rapidly closing."
- Scientists from the hothouse Earth study, discussing the small and minuscule steps countries across the world are taking to battle the man-made climate change.
There are countless of real-life events happening all the time which speaks the same narrative as what our scientists also verifies.
Such as overfishing and collapsing wildlife populations. Which you can read up on in balticsea2020 which clearly details how everything from the top of the food chain baltic pike is endangered, as is the Baltic cod and countless of other fish species which can not cope with our commercial fishing anymore, nor the way we have littered the seas with toxic shit, pollution, and plastic.
You also have world record-setting rain in California, all while Europe has been burning in the warmest summer ever measured.
Quote.
“At the time the rain began, the temperature was an astonishingly high 119°F (48.3°C)—a new world record for the hottest temperature ever measured while rain was falling.
“Most of the rain evaporated since the humidity was only 11 - 15% during the rain event, and only a trace of precipitation was recorded in the rain gauge. Nevertheless, the July 24 rain at 119°F in Imperial sets a new record for the hottest rain in world history,”
About my photos.
As long as we still have a functional world, I´ll be out there, grinding it out in the gym, lifting weights. Eating healthy vegetarian food and enjoying nature and wildlife in a sustainable way, while I marvel at the beauty of Scandinavia and "höga kusten" right here in Sweden as I produce gorgeous Nordic fine art products, complete with our ancient Viking soul and Scandinavian natures uniquely calm and quiet wild charm.

Why do I include connect2earth and merklimat in my articles?.
Because no matter how advanced your society is, no matter how sustainable and healthy it is, no matter how far ahead of the global curve your society might be, we all can do much more. We all need to do much more. Because even the best of societies on this planet are still so far from achieving the healthy kind of society we all need to create, because at the end of the day, we are all living on the same little greenhouse which feeds us all, provides for us, shelters us and keeps us alive and happy.
