Planet Earth: “Climate is changing. Food and agriculture must too.”. This is our life in the Anthropocene, today and tomorrow.

Excessive Air Pollution, soil degradation, polluted water, unsustainable energy. Unhealthy food production and sedentary living is damaging life and health of almost every human being
The Science of a healthy life

This is a long form article covering our individual and global, planetary health and the way it is all linked together, today and every tomorrow from here until eternity:

WHO, the U.N. health agency revealed September 2016 that 92 percent of the global population now live in areas where human-made air pollution exceeds what WHO consider safe for your health.

All while ever-increasing global temperatures and increasing frequency in weather-related disasters keep making not just daily life but also food production and food security harder for all.
A basic premise and reality which will have to go hand in hand with a growing worldwide population. A population that deserves a healthy and fulfilling life.

But, not only is one in nine deaths worldwide in some way caused by air pollution. Perhaps more importantly, beyond that number, hundreds ( billions actually ) of millions of people are affected in their daily life with various health issues due to human-made pollution and other unhealthy aspects of modern day life of some sort.

So the question should not be 'can we afford to go healthy and sustainable'.

No, instead, the reality already is 'How fast can we go all sustainable and healthy, because we already know that we can not afford to not do it'.

We all need thriving food producers and a well-functioning high-tech society.
I do not see how anyone regardless of nationality, political ties, wealth or religious views would ever claim otherwise and still keep a straight face and caring heart.
But a thriving food producer and ultra modern society can not be allowed to be an unsustainable food producer/society anymore, the time for that has come and gone. We now need healthy food being produced in a healthy and sustainable way that preserve our water, the air we breathe, the soil we use tomorrow too.

Our food producers and the farms that grow the basis of our food can not be allowed to hurt the very planet and wildlife which provide us with the things we need to live healthy lives tomorrow too. The cost of us having done so for far too long is already much higher than the cost of going green and clean, healthy and sustainable will ever be, and the long term revenue of going green and healthy is far higher than the "profit" of looking the other way like the sheepish, selfish fossil fuel sheep too many proved to be.

Life in the Anthropocene is about us all.

The reality of it is that we are all living together, and as such, we all have to look at the basic truth of what that amount to.
One nation and person can not afford to live in a way that hurts life on planet Earth anymore.

Doing so does not just hurt our bees and trees, it hurts all of us. What is toxic for the mighty white-tailed eagle is toxic for you and me as well. When people like Trump is making far-fetched claims that climate change is a Chinese hoax and others claim that oil never hurt anyone, that is nothing but a selfish view on life, a fabricated selfish view that my health does not matter, a selfish view that their neighbours should pay with their health in order to fill someone else's wallet. Planet Earth, you and me, we can not afford to let Saudi Arabia or Iran or USA or Russia perpetually exploit their oil reserves.

Shale gas can not be fracked just because it will temporarily help someone's profit when we all know that the price to do so is worse health for everybody.
Fossil fuel driven cars have to be removed from our streets, and coal can not be allowed to power our factories and homes anymore.

Water needs to be a healthy and rejuvenating thing to drink. Our oceans need to be free of pollutants in order for fisheries to produce healthy and sustainable food. Apples have to be a wonder that keeps the doctor away, we can not allow apple orchards to produce tasty looking treats which flood our bodies with unhealthy toxins that actually shorten our life and make us sick.

Making money is wonderful, but food producers and industries need to make their money by taking care of all of us, all of us and planet Earth. And we have to take care of each other.

A healthy person, eating healthy food and keeping active consume less resources, pollutes less, need less health care, racks up less sick days, and get to enjoy more enjoyable days on planet Earth. Help each other make life more.

Thus, I conclude, in the middle of this article.

We already know, from the world leader to you, that all of us, as the one global species we are, have to change. Not in the distant future, but right in the now. We have to change today and together.
It´s not about a moral thing towards animals. It is not about religious faith, or being kind to the poor and unknown strangers of our blue marble.

Going green and healthy is not about blue eyed optimistic people that are seemingly living in the day dreaming clouds that float us by.

It is about cold hard facts, science and life on Earth with all the other 10 billion people.
And  the facts are simple, individual health is planetary health and vice versa.

The ones that are avoiding that simple truth are the ones that are daydreaming, and they do so out of selfish greed. They do not care about your wellbeing or their neighbour. They do not even care about your childrens health, what they care about is their own bank account.

We need to produce more food, and more electricity. We need to provide proper housing, clothes, computers, affordable internet,an equally rich life and a fulfilling sustainable living for more people.

We need to do it for a global population that keeps growing older, and we need to provide better health care for more people. Better elderly care, better school and science-based education, better and more affordable gyms and physical activities that foster healthier and happier and more fulfilling lives. No one should be abandoned or force fed fantasies and prejudice. People deserve happy and healthy lives. It´s the only life we got after all and the way to do that is to abide by the simple facts and science that clearly shows us all what we need to do to improve our individual and global health.

We need to globally provide better child care, better jobs that cater to the well-being and health of both those that work and those that do not. We need more green and thriving pasture, clean water, and air.

Safe cities and healthy rural areas et cetera that improve life and health for people instead of diminishing and taking away years of healthy fulfilling living is what is needed all around planet Earth.

The Trillema Index, Global & Sustainable Energy Production

Did you know that right now USA, UK, Germany, and Japan have been added to an international watch list of countries with expected imminent negative changes according to the Trillema index. How can that be? Every nation, corporation and human being need to move forward, not backward. According to the same global index which measures sustainable and clean energy production, Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland are the top three nations in the world ( You can as always find the relevant links at the bottom of this article ).

And as we do all this, keep in mind that traditional jobs are actually becoming less plentiful. While far less workers will provide for more people.
There are no fossil fuel jobs in tomorrow's world because we, the human race that is living together on this one planet ( for now ) can not afford to have any fossil fuel jobs in tomorrow's everyday reality.

We can't have overfishing fisheries come tomorrow.
Nor can we have any industries and cities that contribute to any of the issues that are part of the changing climate. We can't have farmers that destroy the very land they farm. Bees are now endangered in parts of the world.

Whales and Tigers too. And we can not allow any nation to continue down that unsustainable and unhealthy, destructive path out of sheer pride and greed. The time is gone for allowing any nation to tuck their head in the sand.

We do not burn midnight oil anymore, the world does not need the blood and oil of whales and slaves to keep the lights turned on at home. We can not keep feeding poor people food that is toxic just because some overfed businessman believe that it is his right to claim ever growing profit and wealth at the expense of other people's actual health and wellbeing.

Any well-functioning society needs those that have to pay their fair taxes. This world can not afford wealthy people and corporations to avoid taxes for years and decades. And yes, producing sustainable things in a sustainable way is another form of taxes that are even more crucial, and no one can be allowed to continue to skip around it.

In our global world companies can not keep selling phones that burn and explode and dump it all in landfills that are so big they have created entire islands out in sea and city like structures on land. We can not continue to lay waste to entire communities for the next five hundred years just because someone believes that their own profit is more important.

The buildings we live in has to be made from sustainable practices, zero energy buildings have to be the only norm. New homes really have to give back to the world, instead of stealing the health of others.

In short.

We need to increase food production by 50% and we need all of it to be from sustainable measures. You deserve healthy milk, not planet destroying milk.
We can not continue to tell the lie that people should eat more meat when science tells us that eating meat hurt people's own health while also being one of the biggest destroyer of this planets only ecosystem, the meat industry has to change. Not because making it change is funny, but because beyond the selfish views of those in the meat industry that refuse to change, the truth is we can not afford to let you eat hamburgers in tomorrow's world.

Vegan hamburgers or artificial hamburgers or insect hamburgers yes, but not red meat hamburgers.

People can not continue to throw away 1.3 billion tons of edible food per year. There simply is not room for that, not from a moral point of view and not from a clinically fact of life view either. 1 Kilo of hamburgers can not continue to use hundreds of liters of water or more during the production.

We can not afford to let the actual health value of our food go to waste because food producers feel that they have to improve the taste by adding unhealthy things such as sugar to our food. What is the point of you buying affordable and tasty food if it shortens your life, increase the risk for diabetes, Alzheimer's, cardiovascular issues and cancer?.

Who exactly wins in that scenario?. You? Me? Your children? No, the answer is that not even the food producer wins by society sticking to an unsustainable and unhealthy way of life.

So I am sorry to tell you this, but your big ass humvee has to go. So do your coal job. And guess what, people can't be allowed to be homeless. It does not matter if you believe in your selfish point of view that some deserve to be homeless and that they don't count.

Truth is society can't afford homeless people, or for that matter unsustainable people or unhealthy people, every person ending up homeless or starving or living a well-off unsustainable and unhealthy life, or left alone without an income will cost society way more than the same person living a healthy and sustainable life by their own hand or by being properly cared for by society.

And morally, well, morally how can any human being, or society, be considered a decent and evolved person if they allow others to die the slow, degrading death of abandonment and homelessness.

Is that really any way better than the old roman empire and their gladiator entertainment.
No, it is not.

Especially so when you consider that in tomorrow's world, old jobs apply no more.
Not yours and not mine.

The economics and ruthless wastefulness of yesterday have no room on this planet anymore.

Universal income, free health care, real education, free education. Active lives and healthy food, those are the things our entire planet need to adapt. What we need to carve away is the dead weight, the unsustainable. The unhealthy. We do not need to control what unemployed people do, soon most will be unemployed no matter education. Not because they are worthless, but because people will be free to actually live healthy and fulfilling lives, they can poke around in their own garden, train elderly people in the elderly care home. Work out at the gym, train horses, show tourists around in their archipelago, paint, create music, write books, fix homes for others. Teach and train and help others.

What we need in the world is free child care and elderly care so no one will ever wake up to find that they have to give up their own life just to babysit their own elderly parents or that they somehow ended up being a bonus parent for their grandchildren. No one will drive a taxi in our rapidly approaching near future.

Perhaps people will soon not even own their own car. And no, these things are not scary, they are wonderful. Wonderful and positive inevitable changes. Changes that are happening right now.

The climate is changing, and the world is changing too. And it has too because we made it so, well not you and I, but all the narrow-minded, selfish and short sighted generations that came before us, they made this mess, and now we are cleaning it up.

No one will or should have to stand in line for hours upon hours to see a stressed out doctor with no sleep of his own or time on his hand for you.
Nor should anyone be refused real education. No one should be told that due to their parents religious choices they can't work, make love or go to school. We are all the same, simple and perfectly imperfect human beings, and we all deserve a much better planet Earth, today and tomorrow.

The best part is as I just said, that we are building just that, and we are all doing it together right in this moment.

From the smart beehives to the quickly moving vertical smart farms, to the transparent windows in tomorrow's Swedish buildings where entire skyscrapers are made of nothing but transparent yet sturdy, well-insulated wood. Entire buildings that are built from 100% sustainable resources, and better still, these buildings are producing their own heat and warmth and energy. We all need real education, and we all need a real, livable income even if the only ones doing "real work" happen to be automated robots and "lucy" like AI.

No one deserves to be called fat and ugly and doomed for life due to who they where born as.
Genetics do not define anyone. Neither do your race or name, the color of your skin or your parents or gender.

No one has to live outside society.
And no one deserves to breath toxic air and swim in the filth and shit of others.

And no one has to endure any of those things. Life is beautiful, and it is our mutual, global thing. The way you live travel around the world like a butterfly, it affects my life and my health, and when I grow strawberries without pesticides in my bee and butterfly friendly garden, it improves life for you too.

When I pick wild berries in my garden instead of buying it from the grocery store, it improves not just my health, but yours as well. When my house produces clean energy all year round instead of sucking up dirty coal energy from Germany I help improve life and health and the air and waters, the frigging soil across our gorgeous planet.

Say no to coal, oil, fracking, fossil fuel driven cars.
Say no to unhealthy, life destroying food and farmers.

If for nothing else the basic fact that come tomorrow, all those things will be gone anyway, because even if you do not understand why people can't continue to eat polluting and unhealthy meat or drive larger than life cars that suck the life out of everyone around them, facts are, that is how it is, and life on planet Earth is finally changing because there are now enough people that do understand that it all has to change.

It´s just science and facts of life baby. So join the train and help make the world better even quicker. I promise it will feel much better that way for you too.

music of the day while you are reading our article
The clouds prepare for battle by Swallow the sun

The Winding down, final words.

While you do these things, while you learn to say no to the Trump lords of the world and to say yes to sustainable energy and community improving vertical food farms..

Remember that small steps count too. Eat healthier on a daily basis, walk. Lift weights. Do yoga and dance. Health breed health, and taking care of your body is you taking care of your mind and the entire planet as well. It is, after, all a physical part of your body and all our lives, not some isolated void. Healthy living, fit people that make daily choices based on sustainable and individual health will consume a boat load of less resources during their life compared to the exact same person living a sedentary, unhealthy and unsustainable life.

Health gives health, individual health is tied to our planetary health and it swings the other way around as well.

Make healthy choices for your own health, because your health is tied to my health, and we are all connected to this planet and everybody else living on it. People, animals, trees, and plants, oceans and mountains, the air we breathe.

Make healthy choices because individual health is planetary health and vice versa, and life is your art, and it is mine. And life in the Anthropocene is not a gloomy swan song for humanity, it is, in fact, all our mutual story of how we finally had matured enough to start treating each other and our planet with the respect we all deserve and need. And that is how humanity finally started to live truly healthy and happy fulfilling individual lives.

Eating way less meat is without a doubt the easiest and healthiest choice you can make for you and our shared planet. No need to cut it all out, but cut it down to one day per week perhaps?. And when you do eat meat, choose eco-friendly products from farmers with free walking animals, such as chicken. I promise, chicken is way healthier to eat than red meat, and it wastes a lot less resources, with far less soil degradation and planetary destruction.

Skip all sugar.

Sugar can not be considered healthy and beneficial carbohydrates, if anything you should view it as something that will hurt and diminish your body and health, from your mind to your heart, body fat and diabetes, teeth and longevity.

So buy sugar-free yogurt. Buy organic eggs.

Eat fruit and berries, eat potatoes. Buy local food!. Buy modern food, such as veggies and greens and whole grains from sustainable, vertical farms which do not need pesticides and toxins, farms that do not ruin our incredibly rare soil.

Buy clean energy. Build healthy homes and healthy lives.

Take a walk outdoors on a daily basis and drag someone else with you.
Skip the plastic bags at the grocery store. Skip the candy, the wasteful and unhealthy coca cola. And if you have healthy water flowing in your tap water, drink that and let the incredibly overpriced and unhealthy and unsustainable water on a bottle industry languish like a desert drought. Eat fruit and greens, plant berries and wildflowers at home.

Improved health for you today is a longer and healthier and more fun and fulfilling rest of your life, and a healthier life for you is a healthier and richer society for us all, embrace that simple truth. Be the change, individually and globally, help yourself and the rest of the world to reach that better and far healthier and fulfilling future Earth, your actions count, because you matter as much as I do.

the trees, that dream of your name

These trees that stand, here, on this hill
They sometimes crave your delighted mind, as they dream
Of far away mountains
In this night of dreams, and somewhat painted fools

Rain, soon a torrent stir
Amongst their roots, can you still
remember, all that water?

Like an echo far out at sea
The mud that travels on the wings
Of bumblebees

There they stand
The trees that whisper
Your name, in the night and sea

  • Fitness school, question 53: Let us talk about nonalcoholic fatty liver & cancer risk..

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

A daily 20 minute walk outside essentially showers you in health promoting daylight.
What is the science based outcome of your daily life choices?.

Question number 53 in our School.
And today it's time for a short, and to-the-point, and focused Fitness school question.
Just because, sometimes, all that we need is something short & wickedly sweet :).

Drum roll, the lifestyle-based nonalcoholic fatty liver is pretty much as bad for us homo sapiens as its name suggests. But will it also increase your cancer risk?

  • Fitness school, question 52: The female menstrual cycle is a white water raft of hormonal changes over many days. But which ones jump up and down and what correlation might there be with stress?.

    Quality time needed: 2 minutes

Enjoy a daily 20 minute walk and shower yourself in essential, health promoting daylight.
What is the science based outcome of your daily life choices?.

Question number 52 in our School.
Health & fitness is created and maintained together. Feeding each other in this enduring, lifelong symbiosis no matter if our focus is our muscles strength, our heart health, cellular health, biological age, or the amount and size of our skeletal muscle mass,. Joint health and bone mass, hormonal functions, cardiovascular health, body fat levels, gut health, and even our brain are all intricately linked together.

Fitness & health, body, and mind remain a perpetual cause and consequence system, where each individual aspect within our bodies affects and in turn, gets affected by all of the others in various degrees.

In truth, a myriad of functions, which, individually, and as a whole, in turn, are shaped through our daily choices. Our surroundings, the type of food we eat, its nutrients, and the amount of those nutrients and their combined total.

Environmental pollution, physical activity, sleep, relations, job, society, stress, et cetera.

All combined, this is what determines the trajectory of our health and our fitness.

And the menstrual cycle is, of course, no exception to this at all.
Its impact on the female body and our highly influential hormonal system are in fact, very big. And as such, it is a highly relevant topic for any female that is aspiring to live a fact-based healthy fit life.

But which hormones get affected the most during the menstrual cycle?. And how might stress tie into it?. If at all.

Read on beyond the break for fitness school question number 52.

  • Fitness school, question 51: Potatoes versus rice. Two healthy food staples in any healthy fit lifestyle. But, what more is there beyond their nutritional makeup, and why should you care?

    Quality time needed: 2 minutes

We are choosing the direction of our fitness and health through our daily choices.
What is the science based outcome of your daily life choices?.

Question number 51 in our School.
Real Fitness progression requires, as well as creates injury free progression in health, especially, long term speaking.
Likewise, making healthy food choices is just as important for health as it is for our fitness progression.

But is healthy food habits really just about the nutrition our food constitutes and the health & fitness impact that nutrition carries with it?

Some will say that this is all there is to our food choices, and plenty of good nutritional coaches do treat food and nutrition just like that. And that is an ok choice to do. Ok, but also lackluster in its view on the scientific ecosystem that is food and health, people and planet. Yes, as a personal trainer, and nutritional coach and Styrka Master coach mysef, I can not agree at all with that narrow, and incomplete view on health, nutrition and fitness.

You see, eating healthy food is a staple in our personal fitness, and health, that is a given.
The nutritional make up of our food choices is a major pillar in human health and fitness, just as important as the amount of food which we are consuming. But a truly healthy fit life also account for the scientific impact of our choices on our planets health.

After all, if our personal food and lifestyle choices contribute to breaking the health of our entire planet, then we are unavoidably going to harm the health of ourselves since a healthy, sustainable society and planet is essential to the life long health and fitness progression of us all. As individuals, and a society.

Hence todays question pitting good ol potatoes vs rice and the amount of water, and climate, and planetary impact these 2 healthy food staples causes. And just why 'small' stuff like this should matter to you.

So read on beyond the break for the complete question and the correct answer.

  • Fitness school, question 50: Can we see some sort of health impact betweeen obesity and corona?. Updated May 2021

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

The direction of your fitness capacity is made through your daily choices.
What is the science based outcome of your daily life choices?.

Question number 50 in our School here at 'a Norse View'.
An abundance of body fat sadly does not help with improving many health and fitness metrics in life for us mere mortals.
    But, how about Corona?

Will bigger levels of body fat lower your risk of dying from Corona, or will it increase your health risk?

Well, we can not scientifically deduct every little thing with 100% certainty as far as Covid-19 goes right now. It is still a situation that is too recent, and adaptive to conclude some things with absolute certainty.

We can however start to see some clear trajectories emerging when it comes down to higher body fat levels, and Corona.

So read on beyond the break and let us take a look at corona and the probable correlation with our body fat levels.

  • Fitness school, question 49: Is a reduction of inflammation in our bodies one aspect of the many wonderful health improving outcomes of regular fitness?

    Quality time needed: 2 minutes

Health is shaped and molded through your daily choices.
Do you know the scientific outcome of your daily life?.

Question number 49 in our School here at 'a Norse View'.
Physical activity & fitness exercise of various levels, intensity, and volume improve many aspects of our human health. Including a highly beneficial effect on musculoskeletal health no matter gender or age.
Other factors include improving our metabolic and cognitive health & functions.

As a result, regular life long fitness.....
Reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.. Diabetes, and several types of cancer.

Greatly reduced osteoporosis as well as depression and improved volume and capacity of our physical gray matter mass, are other areas of our life long health that benefit substantially from daily physical activity and regular fitness.
But, will intense regular fitness exercise also reduce inflammation throughout our bodies?....
Because if so, that would provide huge health benefits all by itself. Simply put, less inflammation in our bodies reduces heart health risk and the onset of cognitive decline and biological aging amongst other things.

So read on beyond the break and let us take a look at how intense fitness might reduce inflammation too.

  • Fitness school, question 48.. Smoking kills millions of people every year, and harm hundreds of millions more.. But can the body recover from damaged lungs if you stop smoking?..

    Quality time needed: 2 minutes

Health is shaped and molded through your daily choices.
Do you know the scientific outcome of your daily life?.

Question number 48 in School of Fitness here at 'a Norse View'.
Most of the time our fitness school questions revolve around the scientific impact of your fitness and or food choices.
But every now and then we dip our toes into the wider ecosystem of things that carry with them a huge impact on our individual health, such as air pollution. Because a truly healthy life has to consider all aspects of our lifestyles.
One area of "air pollution" is smoking. Not only do non smokers hurt their health due to others unhealthy smoking habits. But the smokers themselves harm their own health in even greater strides.

So much so that Tobacco smoking is perhaps the biggest single influencer on a human beings mutational burden, usually adding anywhere between 1,000 to 10,000 mutations per cell inside of the human body. In the end, being a major driver of various cancer forms and fatally damaged lungs. But, the human body is amazing at recovering from almost all forms of injuries and health issues once we start making healthier choices a regular thing.

And now, a brand new 2020 study is shining light on just how well a typical smokers damaged lungs will recover once that smoker chooses to stop their unhealthy smoking habits.

So read on beyond the break and let us dig deeper into the health impact of smoking and just how good our human lungs might recover once a person decides to end their self harming habit.

  • Fitness school, question 47.. Can we still make the fact based claim that the core temperature of the modern day human body is 37c on average?... Or has this well established scientific fact actually changed in the last 100 years?.

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

Health is made from your daily choices.
Do you know the answer to our question?.

Question number 47 in our School of Fitness.
Interestingly enough we actually uncover new scientific facts about the human body every single day.
Things we thought we knew sometimes become nothing more than the incorrect truth of yesterday. All while we continually prove that life and nature, and biology itself is endlessly progressive and changing.
So for today, I would like to know if we can still make the fact-based claim that the core temperature of the modern-day human body is still 37c on average?...
Or has this well established scientific fact actually changed in the last 100 years?.

Read on beyond the break and dig deeper into our fitness school question before you pony up the right answer.

  • The scientific correlation between our food choices environmental impact and bad human health.

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

Fitness is a science driven journey.
    And so is sustainability.

So let us get it out of the way right away.
Poor food choices remain a leading worldwide cause of mortality and bad health. But, poor food choices doesn't just harm our own health and longevity, bad food choices and the production that is needed to create the lackluster food that so many bases their entire food life on causes huge, unnecessary environmental degradation as well.

So much so that the much needed (read essential to do) UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement is virtually impossible to fulfill unless we, as a global species make the switch to healthier, plant-based food choices.
This article will display how different food groups directly connect 5 health outcomes and 5 aspects of environmental degradation with each other.

  • Fitness school, question 46.. Can we make the fact based claim that visceral adipose mass is associated with increased risk of hypertension, heart attack/angina, type 2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia? Yes or no?.

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

Health is made from your daily choices.
Do you know the answer to our question?.

Question number 46 in our School of Fitness.
Is it true that visceral adipose mass is associated with increased risk of hypertension, heart attack/angina, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia?.
And just exactly what is visceral adipose mass?

Read on beyond the break and dig deeper into our fitness school question before you pony up the right answer.

  • Fitness school, question 45: Will increased or maintained fitness rejuvenate & improve hippocampal activity beyond 60 years of age?

  • Fitness school, question 44: What is the actual weight of one cm3 lean muscle mass, and will that weight per cm3 be able to also differ ever so minuscule between fit people and out of shape people (generally speaking that is).

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

A healthy life is a daily process created by making healthy science based choices.
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 44 in our School of Fitness.
Time for a short and sweet little one.
As stated in the subject line, lean muscle mass has another weight/density ratio than fat, so a body mass that is made up of more fat and less lean muscle mass will display a bigger mass at a lower body weight, while a body that has a greater amount of lean muscle mass will actually have a higher body weight compared to what its body mass might make you believe.

Fitness has been established in scientific studies in the last few years as a health-improving daily life painkiller.

  • Wildlife Facts: Camelopardalis, 'The camel that could have been a leopard'.. What animal am I talking about right now?

    Quality time needed: 9 minutes

Arctic Sunrise - Year 4.5 Billion
The camel that could have been a leopard.

One of planet Earth´s most unique land-living animals still roaming about in the wild also happens to be one of the cutest and most enchanting, and gentle colossuses that have ever existed. Yet, somehow, despite the towering size and unique characteristics of these majestic critters they are also one of the lesser talked about wildlife stars. And so it happens that by now they are like so many other species highly endangered without anyone really paying attention.

But perhaps that is the reward that life gave these majestic beings that float across the land they call home as if they are majestic land dwelling whales. A backseat in the human consciousness as we proceeded to decimate their global population with 40 or so % in less than 30 years.

  • Fitness school, question 41: The science of our human fitness anatomy. Scalenus Anterior, medius and posterior.

    Quality time needed: 1 minute

Fitness is built upon your own anatomy.
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 41 in our School of Fitness.
Beneath the tasty, delicious joy and sexiness of a life built on plant-based food and fitness, the weights you lift, the miles you walk and run. The mountains you climb, and the sandbags you punch and kick there is not just a burning passion and increased life quality. Nor is it just a question of the enhanced health and joy you can touch and feel deep inside both body & mind.
No, there is also this marvelously progressive thing called science. Because all the physical fitness things, the sweat and healthy living discipline that others see are ultimately powered by the all-encompassing facts of biological life.

  • Fitness school, question 40: The science of sugar and intestine tumors... In both mice & men.

    Quality time needed: 8 minutes

Yet another study on food & health.

Looking at the impact of sugar in food and beverages.

Sugar is a much beloved sweetener. Craved like a lovers touch by most biological beings that dare to ever look into the abyss and allow its tastebuds to grace this natural force of addiction.

But as much as all things living seemingly enjoy the taste of sugar and more modern artificial sweeteners. Scientifically speaking the bad health impact of sugar ( from obesity to diabetes and cancer risk, poor dental health and non existing nutritional value ) and other sweeteners have thankfully turned countless of humans into die hard "no sugar" please sentinels. So let us take a brief look at a brand new 2019 study and let us find out if this study too will add even more reasons to say no to sugar and other sweeteners in your food and beverages.

  • Fitness school, question 39: Telomeres, the fancy sounding tail that connects healthy fit aging with fitness activities. Dive right in as we take a look at recent studies.

    Quality time needed: 13 minutes

    Fitness School
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 39 in our School of Fitness.
I have talked about telomeres in years past, and fitness too obviously :).
But such is the world of fitness, science, and health, it often revisits old "truths" and sometimes upends them because our knowledge has deepened, while new studies at other times will simply fortify and acknowledge what we already knew to be true.
So what will happen today as we travel back to the world of that peachy sounding telomeres thingy that keeps wiggling its cute little tail inside of us? Let us find out.
    My Question:.
For this particular study, published in European Heart Journal, Nov 2018, we´ll uncover what happens to the length of our telomeres when we do long distance endurance training, high-intensity sprint intervals, nothing at all or lift weights in a so-so way in the gym ( yeah, color me unimpressed by the strength plan in this study, but hold on to that thought as you read on because I will get back to the fairly inadequate strength training and why that too matters. ).
The question, which option is the best for maintaining the length of our telomeres and what is the worst?.

  • Anthropocene & the survival of our brilliant but simpleminded species. Just another morning.

    Quality time needed: 5 minutes

    Breakfast stuff and morning thoughts.

climate inaction is an existential threat.

Nothing fancy or big worded to say today, I am just drinking some tasty fresh black coffee while various death metal songs keep pumping through my livingroom gear.
Yes, what a glorious morning :).
But while I am enjoying my morning routine, getting ready for the gym and my own workouts as well as the health and fitness regimes of today's PT clients I am also reading up on science and sustainability from around the world. And one of the pieces that stand out is a tonally laid-back piece by Swedish outlet DN. They spent the better part of a month or so following Swedish sustainability advocate Greta as she continues her quest to bring much-needed awareness to the sad state of the world and the essential, deep-rooted changes we as a species and global civilization urgently need to undertake.

  • Fitness school, question 38. Is obesity itself tied to diabetes type 2 and coronary artery disease?. Yes or no?.

    Quality time needed: 5 minutes

    Fitness School
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 38 in our School of Fitness.
    Time for a short one.
Obesity is no friend of the bettering of our health and longevity.
Just as how the old school act of serious bulking never did anyone's health and fitness levels any favors. And pointing this scientific reality out is not about fat shaming. It´s about helping the world and its individuals turn the tide toward better health, and better fitness. And doing so does not remove peoples individual right to pick whatever body size and fat percentage that they so prefer.
    My Question:.
We already know that obesity ( and a fat powered high BMI ) increases unhealthy factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. And it often increases depression, drowsiness and general sedentary choices. Which indirectly leads to worse health in numerous ways. But if a person with a high fat powered BMI is deemed healthy as far as those traditional markers are concerned is excess fat itself still bad?
Put in another way, will a higher amount of excess body fat still lead to worse health even if your bloodwork turns out ok and you do not feel depressed and drowsy and you do hit the gym?.

  • Fitness school, question 37: Can something as simple as a reduction of daily walking decrease our lean muscle mass in a noticeable way in just 2 weeks time?

    Quality time needed: 8 minutes

    Fitness School
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 37 in our School of Fitness.
Yes, it is once again time for you to put your thinking cap on before you proceed without hesitation through the hallway of healthy fit wonders and science :).
You already know that keeping fit and lifting your weekly weights and doing your daily cardio is nothing but a rejuvenating choice. It's good for your strength, duh.. It is wondrously good for your harty heart health, and it aids your cognitive and creative processes. It scientifically speaking lowers depression and tardy drowsiness. And if you have been keeping up with me over the years, you also know that keeping fit on a regular weekly basis also lowers your physical age by quite a noticeable margin too.
But even small ordinary things like taking a daily walk carries with it a huge life long health and fitness impact.

    My Question:.
What happens with our skeletal lean muscle mass for people above 70 years of age if they take a few thousand steps more or less per day for 2 weeks time?.
Read on to reveal just how big the impact of that tiny change can be below the break.

  • Fitness School, Question 36, Will lifting weights 1-3 days per week be enough to lower cardiovascular related mortality?.

    Quality time needed: 3 minutes

    Fitness School
Do you know the right answer?.

Question number 36 in our School of Fitness.
All forms of fitness activity is a tiny little pill of good health no matter who you are.
But is the simple act of lifting weights one to three days per week enough to substantially lower the risk of cardiovascular related mortality?.
Yup, that is how easy and straightforward question number 36 turned out to be. And why? Because we have a brand new study to lean back on when it comes down to the (obvious) answer.
Read on to reveal the complete Q and A below the break.

  • Going beyond 1.5C. Our world and daily life behind the IPCC report.

    Quality time needed: 27 minutes

    Cause & Consequence.

Life on Earth laid bare by the IPCC report.

But before we head on over to the meaty real life data of our reckless modern day life, which the 2018 IPCC report painfully laid bare, walk with me as I step out on frosty cold northern shores for my morning walk.

Just a Thursday, spent on northern shores.
And this is the way I started this gorgeous little Autumn day.

  • Roundabouts in the milky way galaxy. The duality of a sustainable earth, and interplanetary living.

    Quality time needed: 14 minutes

Walking through the gates of autumn.

We see a brand new dawn.

Life itself is this majestic mirror world of brilliance and incompetence. Eternally merging and reflected, individually disengaged yet perfectly synchronized and attached to each other and everything else.

Like the leaf that finds itself stranded on the wayward peaks of a stormy ocean. They are each others counterpart, yet entirely different. Individual objects, entwined and interconnected. Disengaged and perfectly unique.

  • Into Autumn, the spider´s lullaby. Random thoughts on life from another gorgeous day.

    Quality time needed: 5 minutes

Walking through the gates of autumn.

Together with a tiny little spider.

And today, there´s officially a full-blown Autumn song playing out there in nature. Gorgeous and sunny, on a Sunday =). Wind free, except for the tiniest of breeze that you can almost not see or feel as it slowly makes it way through the crown of leaves that towers above.

But it is, none the less, Autumn.
The colors of the trees reveal it. The pale blue September moon that hangs high up in the middle of the day is another telltale.
